The D382 Combustible Gas Detector (Macurco GD‑2A) detects the presence of combustible gases such as propane and natural gas (methane). It is rated by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to alarm below 25% of the lower explosion level (LEL) of propane or methane.

Use in non-hazardous locations such as residences, retail stores, office buildings, and institutional buildings. It is usually installed in rooms where gas appliances are located or in rooms that are susceptible to gas seepage.

Notice: Do not use in industrial locations such as factories, refineries and chemical plants.

Functions

Input Power

-       The detector uses a full-wave bridge rectifier so it is independent of input power polarity. It operates on AC or DC voltages from 12 V to 24V. A switching regulator is used to efficiently match the wide input voltage range to the fixed internal power system.

Status LEDs

-       The detector has one green and one red status LED on the front of the detector.

-       The detector has an internal two-minute time delay that prevents alarms during the warm-up of the gas sensor. During the warm-up period, the green LED light flashes. Once the delay is over, the continuous green light indicates normal operation.

-       The detector has a supervisory circuit of critical functions. A trouble condition, due to a failure of a non-reliable component, results in both lights flashing and the trouble relay activating. A power failure also causes the trouble relay to activate.

Mounting Considerations

Natural gas (methane) is lighter than air and collects at the ceiling. Bottle gas (propane) is heavier than air and collects on the floor. Mount the detector 1 ft. (0.3 m) from the floor, or 1 ft. Flame detectors are used to detect open flames indoor and outdoor. They respond to the light emitted from flames during combustion. Flame detectors are especially suitable for smokeless liquid and gas fires not visible for the naked eye as well as for fires of materials that contain carbon with strong smoke emission. Typical areas of application are large industrial warehouses, airplane hangars, chemical facilities, oil refineries, machine rooms, ferries and freight ships, power plants, printing plants, wood warehouses, subway tunnels. Flameproof equipment is contained in an enclosure so strong that an internal explosion will neither damage the enclosure nor be transmitted outside of it. The surface remains cool enough not to ignite the explosive mixture.

Functions

Most IR flame sensors respond to 4.3 μm light, emitted by hydrocarbon flames. By responding to 0.75 to 2.7 μm light emissions from fires almost all flickering flames can be detected. The flame detector has three IR sensors. The detector discriminates between flames and other light sources by responding only to particular optical wavelengths and flame flicker frequencies. False alarms due to factors as flickering sunlight are avoided by a combination of filters and signal processing techniques. Low-frequency detection enables the sensor to operate through a layer of oil, dust, water vapour, or ice. An alarm is indicated via increasing supply current consumption (2-wire) or via relay contact (4-wire). The alarm current also illuminates the red LED of the detector.

Basic Operation

An ultraviolet-detector tube within the D284 absorbs very weak ultraviolet (UV) light such as that emitted from a flame and produces an electrical current. Functions

The D296 24 V Projected Beam Smoke Detector is used in clear open structures such as arenas, atriums, auditoriums, ballrooms, churches, factories, museums, and warehouses. Each D296 detector consists of a transmitter, a receiver, and a remote indicator plate. Because the transmitter and receiver typically mount on the ceiling or high on walls or columns, they provide an effective and unobtrusive means of supervising public areas for fire protection.

FUNCTIONS

Aim Mode

When the cover is removed from the receiver, the receiver goes into aim mode. When the cover is removed from the transmitter, the transmitter stops transmitting. Pressing the Aim Mode button on the transmitter allows transmission while the cover is off. For fine tuning which requires a measurable voltage at the receiver, the covers must be off and transmission is necessary.

Alarm Operation

The transmitter emits a pulsed infrared beam. The receiver measures the intensity of the beam over a period of time and compares this data with an alarm threshold. Select one of six levels of sensitivity for the alarm threshold through a switch on the receiver. If the receiver senses signal strength below the preset alarm threshold in excess of the alarm period it signals an alarm.

Signal Loss Compensation

The receiver automatically compensates for the gradual loss of signal due to dust and dirt build-up on the cover. The receiver measures the intensity of the pulsed infrared beam emitted by the transmitter over a period of time and compares this data with a preset trouble threshold. When 50% of the signal is lost or the signal gains 20%, the receiver sends a trouble signal to the control panel. When the dust and dirt build-up is cleaned or the blockage is removed, the detector automatically resets.

Tamper Detection

If the covers to the transmitter or receiver are removed, the detector sends a trouble signal to the control panel.

Trouble Detection

The receiver measures the intensity of the pulsed infrared beam emitted by the transmitter over a period of time and compares this data with a preset trouble threshold. When 90% or more of the signal is lost for more than 20 seconds, as might happen if an object blocked the beam, the receiver sends a trouble signal to the control panel.

Mounting Considerations

The transmitter and receiver mount on standard 3.5‑inch or 4‑inch square or octagonal back boxes or European Beza boxes. Mount the detectors directly to the ceiling or to side walls. Do not mount the units so that the beam runs closer than 4 in. (10.2 cm) to the intersection of the wall and the ceiling. Otherwise, place and space the detectors according to NFPA 72.

Notice

The beam path should be clear of moving objects. Avoid areas subject to normal smoke concentrations such as kitchens and garages. Do not install units where normal ambient temperatures are below -22°F (-30°C) or above +130°F (+54°C).

For adequate coverage, the lateral spacing between adjacent detector systems must not exceed 60 ft (18 m).

The FMR‑7033 LCD Keypad combines remote annunciator and controller functions for fire alarm systems controlled by the FPD‑7024 Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). It operates identically to the user interface on the FPD‑7024 FACP. You can connect up to four FMR‑7033 keypads to an FPD‑7024.

The FMR‑7033 allows remotely starting local system tests, system programming, system control, and viewing the system's event log. Passcode protect access to system functions allowing installation in areas open to the general public.

The FMR‑7036 is a four‑wire LCD annunciator keypad used with the FPD‑7024 Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) to establish the location of a fire alarm.
